Wow, Cherry! thanks for all of the info. It is very useful. I have been looking for a nice tea set for our AG but want to wait to get it for DD until she is 7 1/2 (a year from now)

I like the Samantha AG teaset that was sold at Hallmark. It has doll size and child size setting. It retails for around $45, but I was able to pick it up at a Hallmark summer sale for $22.50. I am not sure if they still sell it.

If anyone is interested, I can provide a great link to an eBay seller who sells non-AG tea sets but they are AG sized. I bought the Christmas tea set and love it.

Thanks Cheryl for all the info on handmade sets...I love to do stuff like that. I found a site through someone on the board that sells lots of different accessories for dolls and they have "picnic tea sets" the only picnic thing about them is that they have little baskets that you can stor the stuff in. Most range from 20-25 buck...let me know and I can PM the site if someone would like to check it out. Candie

My daughter has a set like the ones in the picnic basket. It is really nice, and I like how everything stores perfectly.

I've seen "doll teasets" mentioned on here as AGP Exclusives. What do they look like? Are they for AGT? Do you think I could have a set shipped from AGP?

They aren't really a full tea set. AGP provides a doll with a treat seat, a small saucer and a mug when you take your doll to the Cafe. In AGPNY, the saucer and mug are black & white striped. No flatware. You can buy two of each as a boxed set for about $15 and a personal shopper should be able to get them for you.
Oddly enough, I was just discussing dolls' china with Lindy. I'm not crazy about any of the AG sets except Sam's lemonade crystal. Toys R Us used to have very attractive china tea sets with 4 place settings for under $20. And for the doll with expensive tastes, Royal Doulton has wonderful miniature tea sets just a bit too large for dolls, which I prefer anyway. Real teacups are a bit too large for real little girls.
If you want china that will bounce & cost nothing, you might be interested to know that 35mm film containers are precisely the same size as AGT glasses. If you buy Fuji film, the containers are translucent. You can decorate them with stickers. I made a set of Raggedy Ann glasses using the Raggedy Ann postage stamps that came out several years ago. Plastic lids from pints of cottage cheese are the right size for plates and can also be decorated easily. Or check out Pier 1 for soysauce dishes. Or a local kitchen store might have small china as well.
If you want flatware, call AG and ask for replacement parts for Molly's silverware (stainless steel) or Sam's gold flatware. You can also buy extra goblets and ice cream saucers for Sam's lemonade set from replacement parts. Goblets are $7 and saucers are $5 -- as of last week.

I like the Hallmark Samantha tea set too. It is nice because they have girl size cups and saucers as well as doll size. Just right for Mommy, dolly, and me tea parties.
